Tried It Tuesday- Wall Schedule

Happy Tuesday!  I hope you had a fantastic day!  I have been busy, busy, busy today preparing to leave town later this week for my sister's wedding.  I am excited to finally meet up with my family who has been together for a few days now.  I am the missing piece to our family puzzle!  I am most excited to see my sister and my two nephew who live in the Netherlands and who I have not seen since I left there last August!  Charlie already knows that I get in late and he will be asleep, but when he wakes up he can jump on me!  He is very excited for that!

Today, I am teaming up with the wonderful and fabulous Holly from Fourth Grade Flipper for her Tried it Tuesday!

Today, I want to highlight my wall schedule.  I started doing a wall schedule a few years ago and my students have loved it.  If the schedule is not in place when they come in, I hear about it and I have to drop everything and put the schedule up.  They like to know what is going to happen during the day and the order in which things are going to happen.

My schedule cards are not fancy and I plan on making them cute over the summer!  I used to write the schedule on the board, but I was loosing valuable board space.  I invested in a schedule pocket chart that has been a lifesaver and will last me for a while.  This one is by Scholastic and is only $9.50 on Amazon.

I choose not to put times on my chart because I did not want students shutting down if I went over on time.  I do have another board that has a time schedule for our specials and for lunch and chapel.

Do any of you have a schedule posted in your classroom?  If so, what do you use and how do your students like it?

  1. Schedules are so important!! Not only does it help the students by providing structure, but it also helps the teacher stay on track. Have fun at the wedding!!

  2. I love having my schedule posted in my room too! I have times posted but my students don't really say much about it. We have to stick to a pretty tight schedule though because we switch groups for ELA and that dictates a lot. See my post link up on the optimum organization linky to see my schedule board:) I think I use that same pocket chart!

  3. Hi Rosie,
Do you know the measurements of the schedule cards that fit in this chart? I have ordered it, but it will take a while before it arrives and I would like to get started making my own cards for it. I especially want to know how "tall" they are, so that I don't make strips that are too tall for the pockets.
Thanks for any help you can give!
